HEAT TRANSFER VINYL (HTV)
Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is a specialty vinyl film with a heat-activated adhesive backing used to create custom designs on fabric items like T-shirts, hats, and bags. The material is cut to a specific design, excess material is removed (weeded), and then heat and pressure (from a heat press or iron) are applied to permanently bond it to the surface.
HEAT TRANSFER VINYL (HTV) OPTIONS
Standard PU/PVC HTV:
The most common type, available in a variety of colors and finishes (matte, semi-gloss) and suitable for a wide range of fabrics like cotton and polyester blends.
Glitter HTV:
Contains embedded glitter particles to provide a sparkly, shiny finish, popular for decorative apparel.
Flocked HTV:
Offers a soft, raised, suede-like or velvety texture, providing a unique look and feel that can resemble embroidery.
Stretch HTV:
Designed with extra flexibility and rebound, ideal for use on high-stretch athletic wear, spandex, or Lycra fabrics to prevent cracking during movement.
Reflective HTV:
Features light-reflective properties for high visibility, often used on safety gear or athletic apparel.
Holographic/Metallic HTV:
Provides a multi-colored, iridescent, or metallic sheen for eye-catching designs.
Puff HTV:
A unique vinyl that “puffs” up when heat is applied, creating a soft, textured 3D effect.
Printable HTV:
A blank white material that can be printed on with solvent or eco-solvent inkjet printers to create full-color, intricate designs or photo-realistic images.
DIRECT TO FILM (DTF)
Direct to film, commonly known as DTF, is a process in which a design is printed onto a film using CMYK colored inks and then applied to an apparel item. This pre-printed film is binded to the garment through heat and pressure from a heat-press machine.
Depending on the required design and finish, this is an excellent option when working with photo-realistic designs and logos.
SUBLIMATION PRINT
Sublimation printing on clothes is a popular digital printing method that uses heat to infuse dye directly into the fabric’s fibers, creating permanent, high-quality, and vibrant designs. This technique works best on polyester or polyester-blend materials.
Sublimation Printing can achieve a certain desired outcome on polyester or blended Materials, which no other printing method can achieve, however it has its limits when other materials are required. This printing method is high advisable for sporting clothing or on unique uniform options.
EMBROIDERY
Embroidery is by far the best option for branding on clothing and uniforms, if longevity is what you are after. Using various techniques and stitches to create unique designs. The best approach depends on the fabric and design. Although, like other branding options, embroidery, too has its limits, as size and design play a vital role in the final finish.
